Weddings Aboard a Tudor Flagship

With deep-rooted associations of adventure and new horizons a sailing ship is a romantic venue for a wedding. The Golden Hinde 16th Century Sailing Galleon is right in the very heart of London. Lending itself to memorable ceremonies and unusual photo opportunities.

Previous weddings aboard have included traditional white wedding ceremonies and even elopements. Long white dresses to matching pirate outfits. Using every deck of the ship to small more intimate affairs.

Here is a snapshot of our 2021 weddings:

  • In late spring the first ceremony of the pandemic took place in The Hold. The wooden timbers complemented by a touch of ivy and fairy lights created a magical atmosphere. Only close family members were allowed, adding to the intimate atmosphere.
  • When lockdown restrictions eased in late summer a much larger wedding had dancing in The Hold, champagne toasts on the Main Deck and canapés in the Great Cabin. The bride, groom and guests all wore nautical outfits.
  • In the autumn the entire guest list drove right up to the ship in a black cab with the bride and groom in another. Quite a sight. The Main Deck of The Golden Hinde surrounded by masts and rigging and views of The Thames was used.

Many relationships have been formed aboard the ship during its 100,000 miles of voyages; resulting in life long partnerships and weddings. Listen to one couple who met as crew members in America enduring storms and having other adventures at sea.
